The original starter solenoid with Simplicity part #1685290 is NOT grounded through the base. Either the description for this part is wrong, or this part will damage your mower. Contact the seller before you purchase!You need to be careful when replacing the starter solenoid. Most auto solenoids are grounded through the base and can not be used.
To test if your existing solenoid is grounded through the base, use a multimeter set to resistance (Ohms) and touch the base and each of the smaller posts. If either post gives you a reading of 0 (or close to 0), it is grounded through the base.
