Replacement Carburetor for Honda GX390 models Honda # 16100-ZF6-v01 Review

I bought this carburetor for my generator, which uses the Honda GX390 engine.

The generator had suddenly stopped. After checking a few other things, I suspected it was due to some dirt getting into the fuel and past the filter and plugging up the carb's internal passages.

I had tried to clean the original carburetor, but without luck. It has many small passages, and has plastic parts that probably wouldn't survive a long period of soaking in cleaner. The Honda carburetor could not be fully disassembled as some parts were pressed in. The experience of others that I read elsewhere indicated that the Honda carburetors are known to have problems with handling dirt and varnish build-up.

After spending $40 at the dealer swapping parts, I decided to just replace the carburetor. I order this replacement, and it arrived in a little more than a week. It took about 5 mins to swap out the old carb, and the generator started right up.

I wouldn't bother spending more than 30 mins trying to clean a Honda carb like this again. I'd just order a new one.

I did note that the choke action, and the fuel shut-off valve, were not nearly as smooth as on the original Honda carb. You could tell it was not as good quality, but it worked just fine.
